Cultural Performances are included in the price of your Village Tour ticket.

The Performance

Each performance includes Waiata (songs) of our history, Patere (rhythmic chants), stick games, poi dancing, and the world-famous HAKA war challenge. There is also a voluntary audience participation section, where you will learn the basics of Māori performance art and expand your Te Reo vocabulary.

Our Performers

Our cultural shows are performed by one of Rotorua's leading Kapa Haka groups, Te Pakira. Many of these talented performing artists have followed in the footsteps of their parents and grandparents as Māori performers. Following each show, you will also have the opportunity to meet our performers and take photos with our performers.

The Haka

The Haka is a traditional war challenge from the Māori people of New Zealand. It is a posture dance performed by a group, with vigorous movements and stamping feet, accompanied by rhythmically shouted chants. It is famously performed by the New Zealand rugby  team, The All Blacks.
